You'd like to have a tarot reading, but you are hesitant. You don't want to know the future, it is so scary! What if the Death card shows up in your reading? and besides, aren't tarot cards and fortune telling just something you shouldn't mess with?
Let me answer those questions...
What exactly is a tarot reading?
Tarot card readings are a form of Divination. There are many other examples, but tarot cards are one of the more popular. Divination is the art of seeing the past, present or future, so called because it is a gift from the Divine, however you personally define the Divine! The beginnings of tarot cards are lost in the mists of time, but are mostly thought to have originated in India or Egypt. Tarot cards were first painted on thin sheets of ivory, parchment, silver or gold in the 14th century and later on card stock. A set was painted for Charles VI of France in 1392 and 17 of those cards are still in existence at the Paris National Library. With the advent of the Nuremberg block printing press about 1430, tarot cards became more readily available and were popular in the French and Italian courts. In 1910, the Rider Waite deck was published, from which most modern day decks derive their symbology. Today, there are hundreds of tarot decks, themed for almost any interest!
Tarot readings are as unique and individual as the reader and the client requesting a reading. There is no one way to read the cards! but in general, a tarot reading will help you find answers to your questions, things that may not be apparent to you or another way of seeing things. The cards have meanings, as defined by historical use, which gives one indication as to their meaning. Another way the cards are accessed is through the intuition of the reader, what jumps out at her/him as they look the cards over. Picking up or reading the energy of the querent (person seeking answers) also adds insight to the situation. The cards and the reading are not set in stone! they are an indication of what could happen if the situation remains unchanged. So what is a tarot reading? It gives you the ability to see the hidden aspects regarding your question and allows you to cause the positive change in your life that you seek!
What if the Death card shows up in your reading?
Do not panic! The cards are read according to their placement in the layout and in connection to the cards surrounding it! it rarely means a physical death for you or a loved one. It usually is an indication of an ending, which is also the way to a new beginning. Most often this is a positive!
Isn't it wrong to do fortune telling?
While it is not my place to tell you how to think and feel, it is my personal belief that reading cards through knowledge and intuition is helpful to people seeking answers. It empowers those seeking guidance to make positive changes in their life. Knowledge of the cards and the ability to use inherent intuition to read them, is a way of accessing the sacred part of ourselves! If one has the ability to use their psychic intuitive and other sensory methods to help someone, that is truly a gift from the Divine!

Tarot Readings with Sylvia..what to expect!
When you arrive for a reading, relax! You will have complete privacy and you need not share what you don't wish to with anyone! You will be able to choose, from several tarot decks, the cards you would like me to use. I also use Oracle cards to further enhance the reading. As you shuffle the cards, it is very important to think of your question, why you are requesting a reading. The more specific, the better. You need not voice the question aloud. Bring along a notepad to take notes. You think you will remember everything that is given to you, but you may not. This is normal. I sometimes don't remember everything either, as I will be in a light meditative state. Most readings are in the 60 minute range, ending when it feels right and we are satisfied. I will do several layouts to shed further insight on your question, if needed. You will be given the opportunity to also ask three simple yes or no questions.
My current rate for a reading is $35 which is very reasonable in comparison to rates around the country.
